Ben Wilson was considered the best high school basketball player in the country when he was killed in 1984 by gangs in Chicago. Everyone always talks about the senseless death of Len Bias, but Bias' death was due to the personal choice of ingesting cocaine. Wilson was killed due to senseless violence that 25 years later still permeates our urban areas. The Chicago Sun-Times profiles the lack of progress that has been made in Chicago Public Schools in the 25 years since Ben Wilson's death. Most people seem to think that things are even worse now than they were then. Gang violence continues to be rampant, drugs continue to lure our kids to quick money and education still seems to be at the bottom of the priority ladder.
