Kwame Kilpatrick Indicted on 19 Counts By Feds Including Tax Evasion!

The bad news continues for former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, as yesterday he was indicted on 19 counts of fraud and tax evasion for allegedly using money from his non profit organization the Kilpatrick Civic Fund for personal expenses including golf lessons to college tuition for relatives. Kilpatrick is accused by prosecutors of not reporting $640,000 in taxable income while mayor if Detroit.

These indictments could keep Kilpatrick, who is already serving jail time for the issues related to the text messaging scandal in jail for a very very long time. The Detroit Free Press reports all of the sordid details of the indictments for a man who essentially has lost everything because of the enticements of power.

Finally The End of Kwame!

Maybe after yesterday the City of Detroit is finally rid of Kwame Kilpatrick as he was sentenced to up to 5 years in prison for probation violations. Kilpatrick has to serve at least 18 months in prison, and lost his job as a software salesman with Compuware as well.

Kwame Kilpatrick's arrogance ultimately derailed is opportunity for redemption as he continually lied to the court system regarding assets and his ability to repay the $1 million that he owes the City of Detroit. Now he'll have at least 18 months to plan his next comeback, but if he's not on his best behavior it could be much longer.

Kwame's Luck May Have Run Out!

Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick's luck may have finally run out, as today he will find out his fate in the hearings regarding his inability to pay the City of Detroit $1 million in restitution despite the appearance of a lavish lifestyle while living in a Dallas suburb with his family.

Kilpatrick has given the City of Detroit his middle finger, it's time for the city to return the favor.

Kwame May Be Headed To Jail!

Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick may be headed back to jail for failing to make timely restitution payments and funneling money through accounts without disclosing the sources of the funds according to the Detroit Free Press. A ruling is expected to be rendered on Tuesday. Kwame is expected to be in court for the decision, and unfortunately for him he may not be returning back to his new home in Texas.

A Cover-Up In Tamara Greene Killing?

The Detroit Free Press reports of a cover-up in the 2003 murder of Tamara Greene. Greene's family has filed a federal lawsuit against the city and police officials, and has found 2 ex-police officers who are alleging a cover-up not only in the Greene murder investigation, but the long rumored party at then Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick's Manoogian Mansion in which Greene was alleged to have been a dancer and subsequently attacked by the mayor's wife Carlita. The only issue with these witnesses is that no one has come forward stating they attended the party or witnessed any type of altercation between Greene and Mrs. Kilpatrick. Unfortunately for Greene's family, the truth may never come out regarding the two incidents in question.

Kwame Must Live The High Life According To Attorney!

Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick wasn't able to make his $79,000 restitution payment last Friday, but money orders were sent in by unnamed donors totaling roughly $35,000 according to the Detroit Free Press. This information came to light as Kilpatrick's attorney Daniel Hajji wrote a 14 page motion in an effort to postpone Kilpatrick's probation violation hearing as a result of not paying the restitution. Also during the motion, Hajji made the claim that the ex-mayor has to live lavishly because of the $120,000 base salary job that he has for Covisint, a subsidiary of Compuware.

I'm trying to understand this logic, Kwame Kilpatrick costs the city of Detroit millions of dollars, lives in a million dollar house in Dallas, has hundreds of thousands of dollars funnelled through bank accounts, does jail time and still gets a 6 figure job, has friends paying $35,000 towards his restitution payments. Only in America!

Feds Have Evidence That Kwame Took Bribes!

First Kwame Kilpatrick wasn't able to come up with the necessary restitution money on Friday, and now according to a report by the Detroit Free Press, contractor Karl Kado, who has plead guilty in a Detroit corruption probe has stated that he paid Kilpatrick as much as $100,000 in bribes in 2002. Kado also stated that he paid Kilpatrick's father Bernard hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes. It remains to be seen whether charges will be brought against the Kilpatrick's but this could get interesting.

Kwame Still Must Pay $79,000 by Friday!

Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick must still pay a court ordered restitution payment of $79,000 by Friday according to the Detroit Free Press. Kilpatrick's family members are asking for donations to assist Mr. Kilpatick since it appears that as of today he doesn't have the money to pay. The penalty for nonpayment of the restitution amount is not known, but considering that over $200,000 ran through the Kilpatrick's bank accounts in the last year, it won't be good for the former mayor if the payment can't be made.

Christine Beatty Headed To Atlanta!

Kwame Kilpatrick's sidekick in the text messaging scandal is headed to Atlanta for new job opportunities according to the Detroit Free Press. Beatty, with the assistance of sorority sisters and former classmates will be working as a business consultant. Her attorney states that while she will not be making a lot of money, it's a new start. So while Kwame Kilpatrick lives in a nearly million dollar home in the Dallas area, Ms. Beatty has to start from scratch with her two daughters. Hopefully this will be Beatty's opportunity to get her life back on track.

Kwame Must Pay Detroit $320K In 90 Days!

Yesterday a judge ordered former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrack to pay $320,000 within 90 days or risk being returned to jail for failing to honor his restitution payments in a timely manner while apparently living a lavish lifestyle with his family in a Dallas suburb. Kilpatrick, who had a 5 year period to repay $1 million, also had that term reduced to 4 years. Kilpatrick was accompanied by high powered attorney Willie Gary at yesterday's proceedings, but obviously Gary's presence didn't help his cause. Kilpatrick is finally being treated like a regular person instead of a superstar politician. The Detroit Free Press provides additional details on the proceedings.

Kwame Kilpatrick Still Rolling In The Money!

It's amazing what power and influence can get you even when you've served time in jail for committing a felony offense while being the mayor of a major city. Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick was in a Detroit courtroom yesterday testifying regarding his inability to keep up payments on the $1 million in restitution that he promised to pay back to the city as part of the text messaging scandal. Somehow Kilpatrick and his wife have managed to run over $1 million through their personal bank accounts while receiving close to $300,000 in loans from major businessmen as Roger Penske and Dan Gilbert according to the Detroit Free Press since he was in jail.

Kilpatrick of course has amnesia regarding where all the money is coming from, but clearly being an ex-mayor has it's privileges. Kilpatrick and his family now live in the Dallas area and Kilpatrick works for a medical supply company. Only in America as Don King would say, and people wonder why everyone is cynical about politics.

Text Messages With Kwame Took Down Detroit Police Monitor!

The Detroit Free Press reports that local FBI agents uncovered text messages between former police monitor Sheryl Robinson Wood and former Detroit mayor Kwame Kilpatrick that led to her resignation last week. The text messages revealed "meetings of a personal nature" in different cities from 2003 until 2005. The messages do not indicate that a romantic relationship was taking place, but that it was a personal relationship.

While Kwame appears to have landed on his feet in a suburb out of Dallas, he's managed to derail the career of another female companion.

She made a brief statement, “I’m just anxious to go home and see my children.” “I’m very happy and I’m ready to go home.” Thanks to the Detroit Free Press for the update. Here's wishing Ms. Beatty as much luck as Kwame Kilpatrick in landing new employment.

Carlita Kilpatrick Speaks!

Carlita Kilpatrick, wife of former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick gave an exclusive interview to the Dallas Morning News, and states that "I'm ready to start anew" in the Dallas suburb of Southlake. She states that her son's have settled into school, and that she's also found refuge at The Potter's House church. She's also started taking classes at the Art Institute of Dallas to pursue her passion of interior design.

It's good to see that Mrs. Kilpatrick is settling in and moving on with her life. She's been what has to be be a very mentally draining ordeal with her husband. She deserves some peace at this point.

Former Hip-Hop Mayor Could Earn 300K-360K In New Job!

Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick could earn up to $360,000 in his new position of selling software products to the health care industry for Compuware Corp. according to the Detroit Free Press. Kilpatrick's base salary will be between $100,000 and $120,000, however, company chairman Peter Karmanos has stated that Kilpatrick is on a short leash. He's vowed that if there's any additional legal problems for Kilpatrick, or if he simply fails at the job that he will be let go quickly.

America is the country of second chances, so here's wishing Kilpatrick well with is new position. Welcome to the real world, Kwame!

Crime Does Pay!

The Detroit Free Press reports that newly released former mayor Kwame Kilpatrick boarded a privately chartered jet to meet his family in the Ft. Worth, Texas suburb known as Southlake. Kilpatrick, who just about ran the city of Detroit into the ground moves into a 2,800 rented house in the community with the following demographics when compared to Detroit:

• From 2005 to 2007, Southlake had an average median household income of $172,945. Detroit's average median household income was $29,109.
• The median value of owner-occupied homes in Southlake was $425,500. Detroit's median value was $89,500.
• Southlake was 74% white and 12% black. Detroit was 10% white and about 83% black.

The last time I checked, Kwame owes the city $1 million, and he's walking out of jail with Willie Gary and flying on chartered jets. I can't wait to see what Chistine Beatty has waiting for her when she leaves jail.

Kilpatrick Possibly Headed To Texas!

The Detroit Free Press reports that former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick has been granted permission to travel to Texas to interview for a prospective job. Kilpatrick has been given a 5 day window to take care of his business, and the court's reasoning is that Kilpatrick still is required to pay back $1 million in restitution, and at present he's paid $27,500 of the outstanding tab.

Kwame Kilpatrick Looking To Leave Detroit For Job Opportunities!

The Deroit Free Press reports that former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick has filed a motion with Wayne County Circuit Court Judge David Groner requesting permission to travel outside of the state to possibly pursue job opportunities once he's released from jail, which could be as early as next week.

It will be interesting to see where Kilpatrick lands, once he's free. It's appears that he's not willing to remain in Detroit to feel the wrath of the city that he once governed.

Tamara Greene Slaying May Be Uncovered Through Text Messages

The Detroit Free Press reports that the federal magistrates have identified 13 text messages that they have identified as possibly being tied to the slaying of Tamara Greene the stripper who was murdered on April 30, 2003, and long rumored to have danced at a party at former mayor Kwame Kilpatrick residence the Manoogian Mansion. As a recap, below is a summary of why this unsolved murder is tied to the former hip-hop mayor:

Greene's unsolved slaying has drawn wide attention because of a never-proven party at the mayoral mansion. According to the rumor — which has been investigated by Detroit and State Police — Greene, who went by the stage name Strawberry, danced at the Manoogian for Kilpatrick and others in fall 2002. The rumor has it that the mayor's wife, Carlita Kilpatrick, walked in on the party and assaulted Greene. Greene was killed in a drive-by shooting the following spring on Detroit's west side.

Greene's teenage son, and family murderers are represented by an attorney, and are seeking closure for peace of mind.

Christine Goes To Jail!

Well I guess we can officially put a fork in the Detroit Text Messaging Scandal since Christine Beatty was hauled off to jail yesterday to serve potentially a 4 month sentence. Beatty and former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick are now both in jail serving time for lying under oath. Beatty , who is a mother of two daughters has incurred more than $726,000 in legal fees according to the Detroit Free Press.

This probably turned out the best it could for Ms. Beatty under the circumstances. I guess she'll have time to pen her memoir and contact Oprah's representatives over the next 4 months.
