Denver's Carmelo Dilemma!

The Denver Nuggets has a major dilemma on their hands with star forward Carmelo Anthony. They would rather continue to have him as a member of their team, however, "Melo" doesn't want to be with them any more even though he he as a players' option for about $18 million for next year and an offer from the Nuggets for a 3 year, $65 million just waiting for his signature. Carmelo has decided that he'd rather be a free agent and sign with the team of his choice rather than sign the contract extension. The Nuggets fearing that Anthony will leave without any form of compensation would of course prefer to trade him, but of course teams are reluctant to trade for the star unless Anthony agrees to the contract extension.

Carmelo Anthony is arguably one of the top 10 players in the NBA, but there's no way he's leaving a potential $83 million on the table. While the Nuggets would prefer compensation, I would force "Melo" to play out the season and cut the drama that's hampered the team's performance over the last month. The Nuggets has the potential to make some noise in the playoffs, so just ride it out with their star player and let the future take care of itself.

Jordan and Bobcats Lend A Hand To Area Schools!

Michael Jordan, the owner of the Charlotte Bobcats saw a need for Charlotte area schools and took it upon himself to help out since funding for middle school athletics has been cut by $1.25 million. The team has donated $250,000 towards middle school athletics which has spurred donations from other sources according to the Charlotte Observer.

This is a great gesture by Jordan and the team. Physical activity is necessary for everyone, and with budget cuts affecting all school systems, the Bobcats really stepped up when needed.

Stephon Should Be More Thankful

Stephon Marbury has not played a single minute for his team, the New York Knicks this year. Marbury, who is in the final year of his contract is scheduled to make $21.9 million dollars this year. Still only 31 years old, Marbury and the Knicks have been in and out out of buyout discussions all year, but with the Knicks presently reorganizing their roster, Marbury now has the opportunity to play but is refusing the offer according to the New York Post.

Like many black athletes, Marbury is letting his ego get the best of him, and if he isn't careful it will also be his downfall. Perhaps Marbury, whose made an estimated $130 million over his career, should consult the other black athletes who have squandered hundreds of millions of dollars before he completely gives the Knicks his backside to kiss. His behavior is eliminating any future career opportunities, and showing that Marbury has forgotten his very humble beginnings as a youngster in New York who lifted an entire family out of poverty.
