Contradictions of Our President!

I found this interesting article on the contradictions of our President following his State of The Union address in the Wall Street Journal. Can he make changes to his direction and style after pushing Health Care Reform for the first year. He's now apparently focusing on the economy and jobs, but the real question becomes in his heart does he really feel like these should be priorities when he's worked as a community organizer and seen what the lack of health care can do to a person and family. Time will truly tell, and time is of the essence for President Obama.

Arenas and Crittenton Gone For The Year!

NBA Commissioner David Stern laid down the expected hammer yesterday suspending Washington Wizard guards Gilbert Arenas and Javaris Crittenton for the remainder of the year for the two of them bringing guns into their workplaces. Depending on which report you hear, Arenas welcomed the suspension since he no longer is interested in playing for the Wizards any longer. Arenas is still owed roughly $80 million from the Wizards, and could be headed towards a buyout. Crittenton's situation may not be as secure, since he is in the last year of his contract.

Sadly Tyree Parks Couldn't Make It To 19!

Tyree Parks was a 18 year-old high school senior who had just received an acceptance letter to Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania. His mother wanted so badly for September to come so that her son could escape the dangerous streets of South Philadelphia. Sadly, Friday night Tyree was shot and killed as he was walking home from a basketball game that he had just finished coaching. Apparently Parks had gotten into an altercation earlier in the day, and was so fearful that he was carrying a semiautomatic handgun at the time of his death. The Philadelphia Daily News provides additional details on this very sad story.

Lakers Visit The President!

The NBA Champion Los Angeles Lakers and 150 guests visited President Barack Obama yesterday. Included in the guest list was Khloe Kardashian, who was escorted from the 11th row to the front row of the audience by a White House aid. Lakers star Kobe Bryant will also have the pleasure of having breakfast with the President this morning, which should be interesting since Obama is a devout Bulls fan. The Los Angeles Times provides additional details on the visit.

Wyclef Taking Corrective Measures For Foundation!

Wyclef Jean has been front and center during the Haiti tragedy, bringing renewed attention to his home country using his Yele Haiti Foundation as a means to raise donations for the country that has been devastated by the recent earthquake.

The foundation, which raised over $2 million in just 2 days almost immediately came under fire for possible irregularities. Wyclef admitted on "Oprah" last week that the foundation hadn't been run properly, but stated that corrective measures have been instituted. He's now appointed accounting firm RSM McGladrey to administer donation and pledges. Good move by Wyclef to be proactive in recognizing and correcting problems within his foundation, now he can focus on continuing to help the people of Haiti.
