While unemployment hovers near 8%, the Washington Post reports that more and more employers are fighting former employees for Unemployment Benefits. While employers are contesting the benefits on such issues as employee misconduct, employers are losing those claims two thirds of the time. Just a reminder that benefits that we think are guaranteed in the event of a job loss, may be challenged by the former employer.
