New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg will introduce his new budget for the city, and according to the New York Daily News the new budget will include possibly reducing the number of educators in the city by 15,000. The total number of city workers possibly losing their jobs could total 23,000 as the city is facing a $4 billion budget shortfall. A shrinking tax base is contributing heavily to city's all over the country facing similar circumstances.
